With more than 37 years of excellence in real estate transactions, estate planning, and working with nonprofit entities, Mr. Finberg has earned distinction as an attorney with his law firm Matthew S. Finberg, Attorney at Law (Finberg Law). Since 1995 when he opened his own practice, he has negotiated and drafted documents for transactions, representing sellers, buyers, landlords, and tenants of commercial and residential investment properties and residences. He also has provided general counsel services to the owners, officers, and real estate brokers of one of the largest residential real estate brokerage firms in Colorado. Also dedicated to advancing his religious causes, he has represented synagogues and Jewish cultural and educational institutions, including many Chabad Houses around the country, supporting rabbis, educators, and activists form their nonprofit corporations, obtain favorable IRS determination letters, and secure real estate from which to operate their programs.
Before embarking on his legal career, Mr. Finberg earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics with honors and a Master of Science in Accounting from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1980, he became a certified public accountant and practiced with Laventhol and Horwath in its national tax office in Washington, DC specializing in real estate syndications, partnerships, and nonprofit organizations. Following these achievements, he attained a Juris Doctor from the National Law Center at George Washington University in 1986, receiving distinction by admission to the Order of the Coif, graduating second in his class.
Prior to establishing his law firm, Mr. Finberg was an associate with Lane and Edson (1986-1987) and with Hogan and Hartson (1987-1992), both in Washington, DC, and then with Dietze and Davis (1992-1993) and Frascona, Joiner and Goodman (1993-1995) in Boulder, Colorado.
Following the golden years of his law practice, Mr. Finberg intends to retire while working on leaving a legacy as a professional who has improved peoples' lives. Passionate about jazz music, he plans to volunteer for and attend more jazz festivals as well as work with jazz foundations supporting musicians and museums, in New Orleans, Denver, and wherever the music may call.
