TAMPA, FL, July 25, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Victoria Runkle Sowell, MS, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in environmental science, Mrs. Sowell has earned distinction as a project scientist for EBI Consulting. Since 2021, she has focused her efforts on conducting phase one environmental site assessments and researching properties for groundwater and soil contamination, including any concerns with asbestos, industrial hygiene or lead. As part of this work, she researches the history of the property and surrounding areas and makes recommendations about which projects need a phase two subsurface investigation. Additionally, she is a valued member of the Tampa Bay Association of Environmental Professionals and the Florida Aquatic Water Council.
Before starting her present role, Mrs. Sowell served as a volunteer coordinator with the Pinellas County School Board in 2002 until taking a role as a park services attendant for the City of Maitland in 2005. While attending the university, she was a student research assistant for the University of Central Florida in 2005 until 2008, becoming an assistant scientist for Terra Environmental Services, Inc. in 2009. In 2011, she served as a field technician for Cardno ENTRIX during the BP Oil Spill clean-up efforts and became an environmental specialist for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in 2012. She continued her career as a staff scientist with ATC Group Services LLC in 2018 and was a project manager for the Bureau Veritas Group in 2020.
While with the Department of Environmental Protection, Mrs. Sowell was responsible for ensuring the phosphate water quality management program was updated, including recovering several years' worth of lost information and bringing the system into compliance with regulations. She is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this project as there is always concern regarding the phosphate processing system.
To prepare for her scientific career, Mrs. Sowell earned an Associate of Science in Biology from St. Petersburg College in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science in the same field of study from the University of Central Florida in 2008. Following these achievements, she attained a Master of Science in Earth and Geological Sciences with a concentration in Hydrogeology from the University of South Florida in 2019.
Within the coming years, Mrs. Sowell intends to continue to work effectively for EBI Consulting while continuing to gain knowledge in her field. Armed with a strong and positive support system from her family, her quest for knowledge has allowed her to do well and keep moving forward.
