BOCA RATON, FL, July 28, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shaun Exsteen has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on 30 years of expertise in higher education and student services, Mr. Exsteen is recognized for his leadership as dean of academic support and accessibility at Lynn University. In this role, he draws on his extensive knowledge of student life and accessibility services to help students with learning disabilities, and their parents, to thrive through their college years and beyond. Mr. Exsteen's responsibilities include oversight of his team's 42 part-time tutors, 11 full-time coaches and two part-time coaches as well as management of the academic support and disability services programs for students who receive accommodations.
Born in South Africa, Mr. Exsteen has been a member of the Lynn University community since 1989, when he received a scholarship to play soccer at the institution. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in marketing in 1993 and a Master of Education in 1998, both from Lynn University. In a professional capacity, he held a variety of roles at the university, starting with activities coordinator in 1993 and advancing to coordinator of learning support program, associate director of admission, associate dean, and executive director of the Institute for Achievement and Learning. In 2022, he was named dean of academic support and accessibility.
Though his professional journey has been filled with many memorable moments, Mr. Exsteen is especially proud of his role in helping students with learning challenges to thrive; he finds great meaning in imparting his knowledge to others and helping young people to see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. In the coming years, he hopes to expand his team's services, starting with the launch of a new social wellness program this fall. When he retires, he is eager to volunteer to assist students and unhoused populations.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, Mr. Exsteen has maintained his professional affiliation with several pertinent organizations, most notably the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHED) and Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA). He attributes his career success to his listening skills, love for learning and commitment to self-reflection and problem-solving.
In his home life, Mr. Exsteen enjoys spending time with his spouse, an elementary school teacher of 34 years, and their two teenage daughters. A long-distance runner, he completed a 56-mile race in honor of veterans, and he enjoys watching professional soccer, golf and travel.
