While in law school at Syracuse University College of Law (SUCOL), Lauren Blau was purposeful in structuring her legal education to learn as much as she could about the family and matrimonial field. She garnered experience as a Student Attorney for two years in SUCOL Children's Rights and Family Law Clinic and subsequently in the Elder Law Clinic. Ms. Blau served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Kathie E. Davidson, the Administrative Judge for the Ninth Judicial District, and was a Student Attorney through the Pace Women's Justice Center Family Court Legal Program, assisting domestic violence victims in obtaining ex parte Temporary Orders of Protection.
Lauren Blau published her first professional article 'Victimizing Those They Were Sent to Protect: Enhancing Accountability for Children Born of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation by UN Peacekeepers' in the Syracuse University Journal of International Law and Commerce in Fall 2016.
As a native New Yorker, Ms. Blau graduated from Ardsley High School. She subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Relations and Policy from James Madison College at Michigan State University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence with a focus in family law and social policy from Syracuse University College of Law in 2017. Ms. Blau was admitted to practice law in 2018.
Among her continued efforts to remain aware of developments in her field, she is a mentor and has been invited to give lectures at her law school. Ms. Blau is an active member of the New York Women's Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association. Additionally, she maintains a leadership role on the Syracuse University Law Alumni Association, where she is focusing her efforts on building the organization to help future generations of attorneys.
Since becoming an attorney, Ms. Blau has been recognized by New York Metro Rising Stars by Super Lawyers since 2021. She also received the L. Frederick E. Goldie Publication Award from Syracuse Law's Journal of International Law and Commerce, an Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award from Syracuse University College of Law, and, among others accolades, she was awarded a Distinguished Service Award from the Student Bar Association.
