HOUSTON, TX, August 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marie E Collins, Esq. has participated in The Star Treatment, a prestigious video series hosted by renowned lawyer and television personality, Star Jones. This premier video series is extremely limited — Marquis Who's Who qualifies 500 listees on an annual basis for this elite service. Backed by a storied career in media that spans more than two decades, Star works closely with Marquis listees to assist with networking goals and commemorative efforts that can be shared with a worldwide audience.
As a recognized legal authority on the subject of structured settlements, Marie Collins conducted her interview with Ms. Jones from the Lanier Academy in Houston, Texas, a convention she attended with about 1,000 other top lawyers. Though she has firmly established herself in the field of law, this was not Ms. Collins' original profession. Rather, she transitioned to law after a 20-year career as a teacher, then a second career as a financial consultant. She had a habit of attending school in the summer to keep her skills sharp. One summer, she looked at a local law school to gain an education on structured settlements, but she learned that she would not be able to take the course without being accepted to law school. Undaunted, she studied, took the LSAT and was admitted to law school. She spent a year and a half in law school before she was able to learn about the legal aspects of structured settlements from her mentor, Howard Nations. Since then, she has been helping older clients, as well as those who have been wrongly injured.
One of Ms. Collins' most distinguished cases was when she represented 244,000 structured settlement annuitants in the conservatorship of executive life insurance before the Superior Court of Los Angeles. Later, she learned about bankruptcy law and became the co-chair of a seven-member Unsecured Creditors Committee in the bankruptcy of First Executive Holdings, LLC, she successfully represented the same 244,000 annuitants against domestic and foreign banks as well as some of the largest financial institutions in the world.
Currently Ms. Collins is working with Worldwide Holdings, LLC as Advisory Counsel, to bring the 9 Keys for Life (Food, Water, Jobs, Housing & Infrastructure, Clean Air, etc.) everywhere each of its 250 global companies leaves a footprint.
Outside of her professional work, Ms. Collins gives back to others through her philanthropic work. When she first learned about the existence of fast-pitch softball for girls, she was initially uninterested, but when she was invited to watch a game, she quickly became hooked. She began sponsoring a team of girls, who all graduated with scholarships to attend college. She also donated the Marie Collins Practice Facility to the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Presently, Ms. Collins is writing a book, tentatively titled, "It's Never Too Late," inspired by her own journey. The title is based on a lesson she learned from inspirational speaker Tony Robbins, "If you think you can't, then you must!" and it is one she has taken to heart throughout her entire career. Ms. Collins has also been named a brand ambassador for Hydroponics Nepal, a company that helps Nepalese women create a nutritious and sustainable food supply as a precaution against disasters. She hopes that her work has spread happiness to others, feeling that life is most rewarding when this occurs. With that mindset, and her track record of success, there is no doubt that Ms. Collins is a worthy recipient of the Star Treatment.
