ALLEN, TX, August 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dave W. Cornette Jr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Cornette was born on the east side of Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Central High School in 1988, where he lettered in football, wrestling and track. He then joined the United States Army on the delayed entry program and attended boot camp at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri before he was sent to A.I.T. at Fort Lee, Virginia. Upon completion he was shipped out to Fort Hood, TX 4th MMC 13th COSCOM.
While stationed at Fort Hood, duty called him to serve in the Persian Gulf War. He left active duty in October of 1995, after 6 years, 7 months, and 23 days. A back injury ended his time in the Army; the physical training was getting to be more than he could handle. Although he could have chosen inactive reserve to serve the rest of his 8-year obligation, he joined the National Guard in Lapeer, Michigan and finished his service. While serving in Lapeer he had the opportunity to travel to Italy for summer camp. He was also able to provide guard duty for the Olympics in Atlanta. Mr. Cornette says he "Loved every minute of it, well almost every minute."
Having served his country, he is now ready to continue serving Allen. He is a member of the Allen Heritage Guild and has served on the board. He was on the Collin County Heritage Commission, the graveyard committee, the cruise committee, and the AISD DIPC. He is a life member of the VFW where he currently serves as the 2-year Trustee. He previously served as the Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander and Commander of the Plano VFW Post. He has lived in states from Michigan to Texas, to Georgia, to Florida, to Alaska, to Michigan again and finally back to Texas. He has lived in Texas for over 15 years and has been in Allen for 10 of those years.
Mr. Cornette has served or currently serves on the Council Nominating Committee-Council Liaison, ACO (All Community Outreach) Advisory Committee, NCT9-1-1 Board Member, Board of Adjustment, Sign Control and Building Standards Commission-Council Liaison, Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition-Alt. Executive Committee Member, Downtown Design Review Board-Council Liaison, Public Art Committee-Council Liaison, Downtown Design Review Board-Council Liaison, North Texas Municipal Water District-Council Liaison to its two appointed representatives, and Allen USA Advisory Committee-Council Liaison.
