He initially began his vocation working as the vice president of the Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos from 1989 to 1991. Following this post, Dr. Olave served as the president of The Development Group Inc. from 1991 until 1999.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Olave pursued an education at the University of California in Los Angeles, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1964 and a Master of Science in systems engineering in 1970. He continued his academic efforts at the University of California in Santa Barbara, earning a Master of Arts in economics in 1973, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in economics in 1976. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Olave is involved in promoting social scholarships in Bolivia.
Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Dr. Olave has received multiple awards from the Academy of Economic Studies and the Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Honor Society. Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud to have founded the School of Business at the Universidad Privada Boliviana, which has been named after him and is ranked as one of the top 15 business schools in Latin America. Additionally, he is gratified to have mentored numerous specialists and to have been involved in their doctorate degree education. Reflecting on a long career, Dr. Olave attributes much of his success to his dedication and commitment to university education and research as well as to his parents who taught him to reach his fullest potential and strive for greatness.
