Securing his place as a leader in his field, Mr. Porfirio began his career as a change and configuration manager at OniTelecom Infocomunicações, a telecommunication company in Lisboa, Portugal, in 2000. Elevating his success, he worked for several other reputable organizations in his home country, including Gosecure Lda, a security consultancy, as a managing partner between 2002 and 2005. Mr. Porfirio was also affiliated with Logica, now a part of CGI in Montreal, Canada, as a security manager from 2005 to 2008. After working for a major bank in Portugal, he received an invitation from a consulting company in the U.S. to deliver a project in Washington, D.C., for the International Monetary Fund. Coming to America allowed him to become more exposed to the information security management system and ISO 27001. It also prepared him to launch ISO Consulting LLC.
A graduate of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, Mr. Porfirio earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science in 1994. Highly qualified in his industry, he has since garnered numerous credentials, including as a certified ISO 27701 senior lead auditor, certified ISO 27001 master, certified data protection officer, and certified ISO 27001 lead risk manager through the Professional Evaluation and Certification Board (PECB). Mr. Porfirio also received various other qualifications, including as a certified information security manager and certified information systems auditor through the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). He speaks English and Portuguese.
As a member of his professional community, Mr. Porfirio maintains membership with the ISACA, the BECB, and the British Computing Institute.
