In 2021, he joined Hyatt Place Virginia Beach / Oceanfront as the opening general manager overseeing all aspects of the business, from the front desk and administrative and accounting work to managing the daily business, housekeeping, and the valet. He also serves as a voting member for the management of the hotel. Serving as the face behind the hotel, Mr. Krogsund works hard to ensure that all his customers receive top-notch service.
Beginning his career in 2011 with Days Inn Oceanfront in Virginia Beach, Mr. Krogsund earned experience at the front desk as a sales associate for two years. He became an interim front desk supervisor at Hyatt Place in 2014 before being recruited by White Lodge Services. After two years as a front office manager, he rose to assistant general manager in 2017 and general manager in 2019. Mr. Krogsund joined Suburban Capital in 2020 and has been there since, serving as General Manager of two different Hyatt properties.
A servant leader who believes in taking care of his employees, Mr. Krogsund looks forward to future success in hotel management. He also aims to expand his knowledge and expertise and eventually manage more significant properties.
Avid about giving back, Mr. Krogsund recycles hotel soap to remake new bars for impoverished families and shelters. He and his wife also sponsor several sports teams that require sponsorships. Although they do not have children, they enjoy supporting the community's children.
Mr. Krogsund was born and raised in Virginia. He prepared for his career by earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration, hospitality, and tourism management from Virginia Tech in 2015. He is a life member and past president of the Virginia Eta chapter of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Krogsund has been an active member of the Virginia Beach Hotel Association and the Virginia Central Business District Association. As a testament to his success, TripAdvisor rated the Hyatt Place Virginia Beach / Oceanfront as the #1 Hotel in Virginia Beach in 2023, beating out more than 100 other hotels. Mr. Krogsund's hotel also consistently receives five-star reviews for its exceptional service. He credits his success in the industry to the mentorship of the vice president of operations at Suburban Capital, Rob Murphy.
