Leveraging over two decades of business experience within the defense industry, Ms. Rarig has distinguished herself as the owner of Black Forest Fashion. Initially conceived as an online clothing boutique in 2020, Black Forest Fashion has gone on to open two storefront locations in Colorado Springs and Peyton. Having long wanted to become a small business owner, Ms. Rarig was inspired to open her fashion boutique after observing an unmet need for a clothing venue in her local community. Ms. Rarig previously specialized in contract management on behalf of a number of defense agencies. In addition to her most recent endeavors as the chief executive officer of Facture LLC, she found prior success as the chief financial officer of RAVCO, the director of business operations at root9B, a chief administrative officer for the Macalan Group Inc., the director of contracts at NEK Advanced Securities Group Inc., and a project manager at Northrop Grumman, where she provided support to the Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Air Force, and several classified organizations from 2002 until 2010. Ms. Rarig first became involved in contract management between 2000 and 2001, during which time she worked at the Theater Logistics Support Center in Europe.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Rarig served for four years as the treasurer of Tier One Conservation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve the biodiversity of protected areas throughout Africa. In this capacity, she exercised her skills in financial management to provide investment oversight, maintain the organization's overall solvency, and apprise the board of key fiscal events. Additionally, she volunteered with the American Red Cross from 2005 until 2008, and continues to donate to various local food banks.
Ms. Rarig initially attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, after which she studied geology at Columbus State University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science. Following this accomplishment, she went on to the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where she graduated with a Master of Business Administration in 2006. In accounting for her subsequent success in both contract management and as a small business owner, Ms. Rarig largely credits her grit. While coming of age, she played on many sports teams – while never the most gifted athlete, she prides herself on having the most hustle, a quality that would come to define her professional journey.
