Dr. Gasperetti is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. To remain aware of changes and advancements to her field, she has maintained affiliation with the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the Society of Cardiac Angiography, the Massachusetts Medical Society and the Philadelphia County Medical Society.
Notably, Dr. Gasperetti has found vast success in her career thus far, having been awarded various accolades, including being named a Penn Health Care Hero. She has also received a Senior Fellows Teaching Leadership Award, a Patient's Choice Award and Compassionate Doctor Recognition. Attributing her success to her passion and the support of her family, she is most proud of her contributions to treating patients across all walks of life. During her 30 years of work, she has performed more than 14,500 diagnostic and interventional cases. She has also authored many publications primarily related to the cardiovascular field.
At the start of her medical career, Dr. Gasperetti attended Harvard University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and mathematics in 1979. Subsequently, she obtained a Doctor of Medicine from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and went on to complete a residency and internship at Boston City Hospital, along with fellowships in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular diseases at the University of Virginia Medical Center by 1991. Initially, Dr. Gasperetti was interested in neurology, as she had already written three papers in medical school about the specialized area of medicine. However, as she spent more time with a cardiologist, her interest and fascination with cardiology became more than just a spark.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Gasperetti aims to obtain a degree in biomedical engineering to complement her work in designing and building medical devices. She is currently working on a device to help the elderly maintain their balance and avoid falls.
