Dr. McClerklin Motley intends to decrease college dropout rates by fostering her business, which aims to help minority-college students learn how to write professionally.

During the early stages of her career, Dr. McClerklin Motley gained varied professional expertise as the program director of the South Carolina Department of Social Services, with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, and in the Social Work Department at Coker College. Outside of her work, she contributes to those less fortunate through a charity in Sierra Leone that funds the tuition fees of 30 students every year. Similarly, Dr. McClerklin Motley is affiliated with the Refuge House of Prayer Church, Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, and the Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society.
An expert in her field, Dr. McClerklin Motley holds a bachelor's degree in social work with a minor in child abuse and neglect studies from Benedict College and a Master of Social Work with a concentration in macro-social work from the University of South Carolina. Subsequently, she expanded upon her professional knowledge, earning a PhD in human services with concentrations in social and community services from Capella University, and becoming a certified parent-child mediator, civil mediator, juvenile arbitrator, grants writer, African American HIV/AIDS educator, and child protective services professional. Due to her vast breadth of knowledge and experience, Dr. McClerklin Motley has contributed to such works as the "Facing HIV/AIDS" training manual for the South Carolina Department of Social Services and "Domestic Violence: What is the role of the Church?," a training manual for pastors and other individuals ministering to abused and battered women.
In light of her professional achievements, Dr. McClerklin Motley became one of two professors from South Carolina selected by the Office of the President to provide input at a hearing on the Affordable Care Act, received the Master Professor Award at Coker College, and won the Social Work Educator of the Year Award through the South Carolina chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Throughout her career, she has also earned the Director's Community Leadership Award through the FBI, an Outstanding Community Service Award from the Cayce/West Columbia National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the CUSH Foundation, and several scholarships. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in raising four successful children. Looking ahead, Dr. McClerklin Motley intends to decrease college dropout rates by fostering her business, which aims to help minority-college students learn how to write professionally. Ultimately, she will also publish her first book and complete her tenure as a research consultant for a state program called Fact Forward.
