Ms. Block has earned distinction as the executive director of the Block Family Foundation, a private family foundation that supports projects in the protection of women's reproductive rights, environmental activism, community development and social and economic justice. Since 2012, she has focused her efforts on budgeting and establishing relationships with other non-profit organizations aligned with their mission. She also engages in various research projects and proposes new investments.
Additionally, Ms. Block is a board member for The Doe Fund, a private family foundation that provides paid transitional work, housing, educational opportunities, counseling and career training to individuals who have experienced homelessness, incarceration or substance abuse. She also lends her expertise to MicroAid International, which aims to provide resources to countries devastated by natural disasters.
Prior to her current role with the Block Family Foundation, Ms. Block began her career as a graphic designer for Rhino Records in 1994 and became a freelance web designer in 1997. During this period, she worked with clients including Fox, Disney Online and Getacard.com, among others. A certified yoga instructor as well, she was the co-founder and creative director for Noodle Yoga from 2003 until 2007. She was also a board member for Project Rhythm from 2015 until 2018 and has given speaking engagements for the Nomi Network.
Also an accomplished photographer and painter, Ms. Block has been an aerial photographer in the New York City area since 2013, contributing photos to Getty Images and Shutterstock since 2016 and traveling with organizations worldwide to take pictures of their work and help them market their stories through photographs. Her paintings focus on landscapes and pet portraits, utilizing her unique style that she developed while pursuing her education. She has displayed her work in several art shows throughout the years and enjoys continually developing her creative voice through her pictures and paintings.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Block earned a Bachelor of Arts in art history with a concentration in video production from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1988 and gained a certificate in graphic design in 1997. Following these achievements, she attained a New York University certificate in philanthropy and a Master of Science in philanthropy from the Heyman, Jr. Program for Philanthropy and Fundraising at New York University in 2013.
Within the coming years, Ms. Block intends to continue her work in philanthropy.
