Ms. Fields is a seasoned nursing professional with more than 30 years of experience. Prior to her nursing career, Carrie Fields served in varied roles at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Augusta, GA. She was a dietary and certified nursing assistant for 11 ½ years. During those years Carrie Fields devoted her time to ensuring her childrens' higher education goals. She has a daughter Rhonda, deceased who had a degree in electronics from Augusta Tech, son Harver Jr., a Ph.D. chemical engineer, daughter Angela, who holds a BSN in nursing, and son Byron. The youngest and Carrie Fields began their degrees together.
In light of her outstanding body of work, she has been honored on several occasions, including being named to Most Notable American Women in 2000. In May 2021, Ms. Fields received a Proclamation for community service from the Augusta, Georgia mayor's office to celebrate Carrie Fields 80th birthday. In March of 2023, National Nurses United appointed her President Emeritus for service as past president. Driven to remain abreast of ongoing changes in the ever-evolving field of nursing, Ms. Fields aligns herself with the Eastern Paradise Association of Spinal Cord Injury. She is a member of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Nursing Society.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Fields received a bachelor's degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in 1987. Over the years, she has expanded upon her professional knowledge by becoming a registered nurse, legal nurse assistant, and paralegal. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in living her dream of becoming a nurse. Personally, Ms. Fields is honored to have watched her children graduate.
Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Ms. Fields credits her overall success to having a dream and fostering it. Looking toward the future, she intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career. Ultimately, within the next five years, Ms. Fields aims to document her legacy, for her own sake, as well as for others.
