An early childhood general education teacher and intervention specialist of 20 years, Ms. Jamison is distinguished for her dedication and compassion to her students. Since 2021, she has excelled in her role as an intervention specialist for grades K-3 at Summit Academy in Dayton, Ohio, working with students with autism, ADHD, and other related disorders.
Prior to her current position, she served as a teacher assistant and substitute teacher with the Council on Rural Services from 2012-2021. Ms. Jamison was a therapist and aide for students with autism through Hearts for ABA, Applied Learning Center, and a Title 1 reading teacher for Summit Academy Management in Dayton, Ohio, from 2015-2016 in their elementary and middle schools. In addition, she gained a plethora of knowledge from her early days as a toddler teacher with Teaching Mentoring Communities, formerly known as the Texas Migrant Council, and from substitute teaching in various Ohio school districts.
Reflecting upon her career thus far, Ms. Jamison attributes her success to the support of her parents. She also credits her Spanish teacher, Terra McCanney, who was her role model during her high school years. With this support, she earned a Bachelor of Education in early elementary education in 2003 from the Ohio State University. She went on to excel in a bachelor's plus program in early childhood education at the Columbus Branch of Ashland University and achieved a Master of Education in early childhood intervention specialist from Wright State University in 2019.
Notably, Ms. Jamison was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success in 2020 and maintains professional affiliation with the International Literacy Association. Looking toward the future, she aims to earn a supervisory position in reading or special needs education or to be a university supervisor for upcoming teachers in college. Ms. Jamison considers her most notable achievements have been seeing her students excel or meet an objective or goal, and she hopes to continue to be part of those milestones for many years to come. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, swimming, attending concerts and plays, and spending time with family and friends.
