With more than two decades of experience to her credit in the field of economic and environmental consulting, Dr. Prakash-Canjels has distinguished herself as the owner and Managing Principal at Litigation Economics LLC, an economic consulting firm and provider of expert testimony. The firm consults in the fields of economics, environment, finance and statistics. Bearing particular expertise in complex commercial litigation, a specialty in which she has offered her services during more than 150 cases, encompassing appearances in both federal and state courts, as well as in mediation and at Federal Trade Commission hearings, Dr. Prakash-Canjels is also responsible for attending to various administrative duties at the firm, as well as providing training to younger associates.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Prakash-Canjels worked as a Consulting Director at Brewers Attorneys and Counselors from 2015 until 2018. She had previously served as the Managing Director at GreatBridge Consulting Inc. between 2012 and 2015, and as a Principal at the Kenrich Group LLC in 2010 to 2012. Throughout the early stages of her career, Dr. Prakash-Canjels worked as a Senior Manager at PENTA Advisory Services, having begun as a Senior Economist at the law firm of Bickel & Brewer. She has also taught in the MBA program at Kellogg Business School the following courses – Macroeconomics, Statistics and Econometrics. Following that she taught Graduate level courses in Quantitative Methods and Data Analytics at New School University, NY.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Dr. Prakash-Canjels notably dedicated more than 10 years of her professional career to teaching and executive training, having designed courses that were taught by the Licensing Executives Society (LES), Incremental Advantage and other Continuing Professional Education programs. Likewise regarded for her scholarly output, she has also contributed various articles to a wealth of professional publications including the prestigious journal, Review of Economics and Statistics and has presented at several industry conferences and symposia. Extensively well-qualified in her field, she has been certified as a Licensing Professional (CLP) by LES, and as a Valuation Analyst (CVA) by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). She was elected to the Litigation Forensics Board of NACVA in June 2022, and serves on the Intellectual Property Valuation Standards Board of LES.
Before embarking upon her professional journey, Dr. Prakash-Canjels studied economics and minored in mathematics at the University of Delhi, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1988. Following this accomplishment, she went on to attend the Delhi School of Economics, from which she attained a Master of Arts in 1990. After relocating to the United States, Dr. Prakash-Canjels concluded her academic efforts at Northwestern University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in economics in 1997. During this time, she notably received an Advance Research Fellowship and Northwestern University Fellowship.
In accounting for her standout success, she largely credits the support of her family, as well as the tutelage of her mentors, whose example she has strived to emulate by training others in her own right.
Dr. Prakash-Canjels is also involved with animal welfare and is the President of Guardians of all Voiceless Animals and Children, LLC (GOAVA). GOAVA operates in two cities in India. It provides support for stray dogs, cats, cows, monkeys and injured birds, and finds adoptive homes for them. Besides that, the organization attempts to provide educational support for socially disadvantaged children.
