Drawing on over four decades of expertise in the legal field, Mr. Kanell specializes in prosecution and criminal law. Since 2002, he has found much success as a prosecutor for Beaver County in Utah. In this capacity, he prosecutes criminal cases and handles civil matters. Prior to this role, he was elected as Beaver County Attorney from 1987 to 2003. In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Kanell practices as an attorney representing Milford City, Minersville Town, Milford Area Health Care Service District No. 3, and the Elk Meadows Special Service District.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Kanell pursued an education at the University of Utah, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing in 1976. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Utah, earning a Juris Doctor in 1979. As a commitment to his field, he has been active with several industry-related organizations, including as Director of the Southern Utah Bar Association and Beaver Area Health Care Foundation. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Kanell was a coach, vice president, and president of the Beaver Babe Ruth Little League Baseball Association, scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America, and on the staff of three National Boy Scout Jamborees.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Kanell is most proud of his passion for his specialty and having a successful practice despite his humble headquarters. In his personal life, Mr. Kanell has been married to his wife, Melissa, for over 45 years and they are the parents of nine children.
