She was Clinical Leader at Elliot On-Call, a 24-hour community and contract telephone triage call center. She has worked in critical access hospitals as well as home care as a Hospice Nurse. Driven to stay current in the field, she aligns herself with several organizations, including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, through which she served as President of the Southern New Hampshire Chapter in the early 1990s.
Likewise, Ms. Brew maintains professional alignment with the New Hampshire Nurses Association, currently serving as Board Member at Large and on the Committee on Government Affairs. She is an inducted member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society and The National Society of Leadership and Success. She is an Ambassador for The American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and a member of the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety.
An expert in her field, Ms. Brew earned a diploma in nursing from the Concord Hospital School of Nursing in 1980, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern New Hampshire University in 2016 and Master's Degree in Nursling Management and Leadership from Western Governors University. Over the years, she has expanded upon her professional knowledge. She is Board Certified in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN), Telephone Triage Nursing (RNC-TNS), Gerontology (GERO-BC), Trauma Nursing (CTRN), Emergency Nursing (CEN), and Perianesthesia Nursing (CPAN). She is a Certified Instructor with MOAB® and AVADE®.
In light of her outstanding body of work, Ms. Brew received an Excellence in Mentoring Award, from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She was nominated for the prestigious DAISY Award. Though her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in receiving the Excellence in Caring Practices Award from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses for telling the story of a United States soldier who survived the Soham Rail Disaster in France in World War II. Her Masters in Nursing Science degree Capstone is: "Military Cultural Competence Education for the Critical Access Hospital Emergency Department Staff."
The cornerstone of her success lay in her personal and professional commitment to improving her practice. Ms. Brews' priorities are to support military cultural competence education for healthcare staff, and healthcare workplace violence prevention efforts on the state, national and international levels.
