Outside of her primary career efforts, Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku has served as the acting director of finance and accounting for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 2022 and the director of financial planning and analysis for United Planning Organization since 2022. She also volunteered her expertise as a financial leader with the Community Financial Center of Prince George's County, Maryland, offering financial literacy information for students and members of her community.
She started her financial empowerment journey by founding "Dr. Charity's Blog," which provided key strategies for gaining financial literacy, that's has now grown to WealthyGen, Inc.
Before establishing WealthyGen, Inc., Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku began her career as a finance intern and became an accounting manager shortly thereafter, taking a role as a financial analyst for Cozi Furniture, Inc. in 2009. Following this time, she worked in finance for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in 2015 until returning to Cozi Furniture, Inc. as a finance consultant the next year. In 2018, she became an adjunct professor of finance for Strayer University and was also an accounting manager for financial planning and analysis for Achieving the Dream until 2020. Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku continued her career as the manager of financial planning and analysis for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 2020, before joining United Planning Organization in 2022 as the director of financial planning and analysis.
Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku was honored with a Global Advisor Award from the American Academy of Financial Management in 2012. She was also inducted to the Golden Key International Honor Society. Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku was also awarded the President's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023 for her exceptional community service through PEP Africa International. Added to this, the United Nations awarded WealthyGen, Inc. a special consultative status in 2023 for their work in fighting poverty and empowering women and youth to achieve financial stability and growth.
Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku has also contributed to the women empowerment space through her research and peer-reviewed work. She authored a book chapter, 'Gender Parity Gaps and Poverty: Empowering African Women for No Poverty and Zero Hunger', that appeared in "Empowering African Women for Sustainable Development: Toward Achieving the United Nations' 2030 Goals", which published in 2020 with Palgrave MacMillian.
She designed the Financial Empowerment for Young Adults (FEYA) which has empowered many high school seniors through the Innovation Scholarship Program of the Office of Prince George's County Council Member-at-Large, Mel Franklin in Maryland and the Bloomberg Internship Program of Sitar Arts Centre in Washington, DC. Through this program, Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku trains the young adults to become financially savvy, financially included, and financially empowered generation of young adults.
As a fintech expert, Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku created a new all-in-one money management mobile application (WealthyGen) that has the potential to disrupt the personal finance space. This is a complete personal finance tool to help people set financial goals, track finances, manage budgets and grow their net worth. WealthyGen app is available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store; and will be officially launched in August 2023.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Nigeria in 2004. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Business Administration in finance in 2009 and a Master of Science in public accounting in 2011, both from Strayer University. She subsequently gained a Doctor of Business Administration in international business from Argosy University in 2017. Well-qualified in her field, she holds a certificate in economic measurement from the National Association for Business Economists and a verified certificate in financing for development from the World Bank Group. She is also a certified financial education instructor, chartered economist and master financial planner.
Within the coming years, Dr. Ezenwa-Onuaku intends to retire from her corporate career, focusing more of her time developing WealthyGen, Inc. and expanding her global reach to make a bigger impact on society.
