Drawing on years of professional experience in education, Ms. Russell presently excels as a curriculum specialist for the City Colleges of Chicago, where she also serves as an adjunct instructor. In her dual roles, she works with teachers to meet their daily needs and serves as a resource to them, and oversees student observations and activities in the lab during the school day. During the early stages of her career, Ms. Russell gained valuable expertise in the classroom as a preschool teacher and third-grade teacher. Similarly, owned a business called Creative Touch Design through which she created wedding gowns, dresses, and other formal wear.
In conjunction with her work, Ms. Russell has dedicated herself to her community as an active member of the Church of Christ in Colonial Village. She also aligns herself with the Black Child Development Institute and the National Association for the Education of Young Children in order to stay abreast of ongoing changes in the field of education. An expert in her field, she holds an Associate of Science in early childhood education from Kennedy-King College, a Bachelor of Science in early child education and a minor in visual arts from Columbia University, and a Master of Science in the same discipline through National Louis University. Subsequently, Ms. Russell expanded upon her professional knowledge, earning an infant toddler certification through the Erikson Institute.
Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Ms. Russell has published two articles in the field. Likewise, she was honored in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and received the Tylenol Early Childhood Teacher Award in Illinois, which was one of the highlights of her career. Ms. Russell is an active member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kapp, Inc. Mu Chapter in Chicago. She also serves on the Board of the Family Affair Initiative, Inc. She enjoys serving our future through education by awarding educational scholarships to students pursuing higher education.
