Dr. Prajapati is a board-certified periodontist specializing in aesthetic dental implants, soft tissue surgeries and sinus augmentation. Inspired by her father, an eye surgeon, Dr. Prajapati knew at a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. She attended the KLE VK Institute of Dental Sciences, and recognized by her second day of classes that she wanted to pursue a specialty in dental surgery. Dr. Prajapati earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2011, and continued her education at the University of Washington after relocating to the United States from India. Dr. Prajapati was awarded a Master of Science in Dentistry with an emphasis in periodontics, and completed her Doctor of Philosophy in craniofacial biology at the University of Southern California in 2016.
Dr. Prajapati started her career in India, where she worked as a general practice dentist for one year before beginning her postgraduate education. She completed a periodontics residency at the University of Washington in 2018, and has seen patients at Schuler Periodontics and Implant Dentistry since 2021. Dr. Prajapati emphasizes whole-patient health and building individual connections, and prides herself on her ability to read between the lines to determine patient needs and treatment goals. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Prajapati is a celebrated researcher whose work has been published in the Journal of Periodontology, Crystal Growth and Design, the Journal of Dental Research, Frontiers in Physiology, and other industry-leading journals. She is passionate about emerging technologies in her field, and her research has covered innovations including artificial enamel growth, peri-implantitis, and long-term analysis of surgical intervention patient outcomes.
In recognition of her career focus on clinical research, Dr. Prajapati was one of four recipients of the highly-competitive American Academy of Periodontology Young Researcher Award. She has been invited to present for the AADR/CADR, the Gordon Research Conference, and the IADR General Session, among other conferences, and is a member of the American Association of Dental Research. In the coming years, Dr. Prajapati hopes to establish her own practice and continue to research, with the eventual goal of teaching at the University of Washington. In her personal time, Dr. Prajapati enjoys spending time with her children and family, reading, and practicing Indian classical dance.
