After working for the New Jersey State Police as a level three investigator for many years, Dr. Rowson recently retired from her role. However, she continues to utilize her industry expertise as an adjunct professor at St. Peter's University. Likewise, she is an associate editor for the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute, and the National Excessive Force Institute. Prior to retiring, she worked as a level three investigator for the New Jersey State Police and the Camden County Police Department. During the early stages of her career, Dr. Rowson gained valuable professional expertise as an adjunct professor at Burlington County Community College and an employee with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
An expert in her field, Dr. Rowson holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's degree in administrative science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Subsequently, she received a PhD in public policy and administration from Walden University and various certificates through the New Jersey State Police, the Morris County Sheriff's Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the State of New Jersey's Division of Law and Public Safety. Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Rowson has contributed to several publications, including "Protecting the Innocent: The Aggregate Quagmire of Adjudicative and Investigative Errors of Wrongful Conviction" and "Capturing Adjudication and Investigative Errors of Wrongful Conviction."
In recognition of her professional achievements, Dr. Rowson received an Employee Services Award and law enforcement awards. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride when her students tell her that she has had a positive influence on them. The cornerstone of her success lay in her mother and father, and two foster mothers; one who fostered her from ages four through nine, and the other who fostered her from the ages of 13 to 18. In the coming years, Dr. Rowson intends to write a book, travel, and eventually retire.
