To keep abreast of ongoing changes in the field, Dr. Fotedar aligns himself with the American Society of Quality, Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, and the American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin. Driven to devote himself to those less fortunate, he also volunteers and contributes to Sewa International, a Hindu faith based nonprofit organization which specializes in disaster response, education, family welfare and women empowerment.
Before embarking on his professional journey, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology- BHU, Varanasi, India and a Master of Science and PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA in 1971. Following which he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, UK.
For his outstanding body of work, Dr. Fotedar has been honored several times earning a Leadership Testimonial Award from the American Society for Quality, Examiner/Sr. Examiner from the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, an Engineer of the Year Award from the American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin, Distinguished Alumni Award through the University of Washington and the Indian Institute of Technology-BHU. Likewise Dr. Fotedar was honored with the William P. Koth Award and Fellowship from the American Society of Quality. While his career has been filled with standout moments, he takes the most pride in holding several executive roles with increasing responsibility at Eaton Corporation. As the principal architect of the company's integrated leadership operating system, he deployed Eaton lean six sigma, Eaton Quality System, PROLaunch a product development system, and many process/business improvement initiatives. Additionally, he implemented cost cutting initiatives that reduced costs by 65%, and saved hundreds of millions of dollars.
