Prior to obtaining his current position, he worked in similar positions with Premier Geriatric Solutions PLLC, through which he managed acute and stable illnesses in older adult patients, Western State Hospital, and KPMG. During the early stages of his career, Mr. Chou honed his expertise in health maintenance, client education, and more in varying management and nursing roles with JurongHealth Services, AsiaMedia Limited, Mafraq Hospital, Singapore General Hospital, and National University Hospital.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Chou earned a diploma in nursing from Nanyang Polytechnic and a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Sydney, where he later completed a Master of Health Sciences in gerontology. Subsequently, he expanded upon his industry knowledge by completing a Master of Nursing program at James Madison University, becoming a licensed nurse practitioner, and earning a basic life support certificate. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Chou aligns himself with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau.
Alongside his work, Mr. Chou volunteers in his community by conducting sports physical examinations for school children at East Lake Community Church. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, he has served as an investigator and co-investigator for various studies, including "Profile of Patients Attending Multi-Disciplinary Weight Management Clinic of a Tertiary Hospital in a Southeast Asian Country" and "Results of Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding on Diabetes Mellitus and Metabolic Syndrome in Singapore."
In light of his professional achievements, Mr. Chou was recognized with the Singapore Nurses' Association Award for Clinical Practice through Nanyang Polytechnic in 1998. Over the years, he also received the WHO Fellowship through the University of Sydney, the Tay Eng Soon Award from Nanyang Polytechnic, and the SARS Courage Medal. While his career has been filled with standout moments, he is most proud of establishing a nurse-led clinical at National University Hospital. Looking forward, Mr. Chou aims to continue working as a family nurse practitioner before establishing an independent practice.
