Dr. Mathews brings impressive academic credentials to each appointment, including a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst; she completed the terminal degree in 2008. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology-chemistry from Clark University, and in 2020, she proudly earned a Master of Science in secondary education and teaching in biology from Lesley University. Ds. Mathews also received the NIH Directors Award in 2013 for creating a matrix combination screening platform for use in small molecule and siRNA screens and the Diversity and Inclusion Award from Novartis in 2015.
Dr. Mathews is an award-winning researcher and teacher with over 45 publications to her credit; in particular, she avidly contributes to the scholarly conversation surrounding high-throughput screening and drug discovery. She is also an engaging presenter, connecting with audiences at the 2013 and 2015 SLAS conferences and exhibitions and at a TEDx event in 2022. Civic service is also foundational to her legacy, and she was gratified to be named to the board of directors and acknowledged as the mentoring committee co-chair of the Association for Women in Science, Massachusetts chapter, from 2014 through 2016.
