During the early stages of her career, Ms. Wood gained valuable expertise in educational technology integration, mathematics curriculum development, and more through varying roles with Godfrey-Lee Public Schools, Aquinas College, and National Heritage Academies. In conjunction with her work, she has volunteered her time and her photography skills to Kids' Food Basket, which ensures that children do not go hungry after leaving school grounds. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Wood also works closely with the Regional Educational Media Center Association of Michigan.
An expert in her field, Ms. Wood holds a Bachelor of Science in education, computer science, and mathematics and a master's degree in the art of teaching and educational technology from Aquinas College. Throughout her career thus far, she has had some of her work featured in published books focusing on the concept of playful learning and its practical application in the classroom. Likewise, she has played a pivotal role in marketing professional learning opportunities to teachers to ensure they remain up-to-date with the latest educational trends. Ms. Wood also had the honor of crafting the graphic recording for advisor of President Obama, Ruther Farmer (Senior Policy Advisor for Technology Inclusion), at a Michigan State University conference.
While her career has been filled with standout moments, Ms. Wood takes the most pride in being the inaugural digital marketing and design specialist for the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning and earning a STEM Award from the Kalamazoo Air Zoo in the spring of 2021. The cornerstone of her success lay in her dedication to continued learning, her insatiable thirst for knowledge, and her desire to infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives into her work.
