    CHESTNUT RIDGE, NY, September 14, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Grant M. Valentine Jr., EJD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. A skilled legal professional with more than three decades of excellence in criminal and juvenile justice, Mr. Valentine has earned distinction as the elected deputy mayor of the Chestnut Ridge Village Board. Since 2013, he has focused his efforts on representing the office of the Chestnut Ridge deputy chief executive officer, managing village property and finances while protecting the property, safety, health, comfort and welfare of the town. Additionally, he is a board trustee and community liaison for Rockland Community College, overseeing their legal and fiduciary decisions, managing the college's programs based on comprehensive data and approving all hires, promotions and reappointments.

Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. Valentine is a member of the Rockland County Youth Bureau Board, monitoring programs and making recommendations for improvements while allocating funds based on submissions. Utilizing his background in parole, he identifies best practices for the prevention of youth violence and finds ways to promote their wellness by creating protective community environments. He is also a consulting specialist for the NYS Cannabis Association of Minorities and Women Professionals and member of One Hundred Black Men, Inc. of New York State.

Before his present roles, Mr. Valentine served as an assistant deputy director of operations for the New York State Division of Parole appointed by the governor in 1997, integrating technology based on evidence-based practices to improve systems regarding supervision, contracts, victim protection, juvenile justice and intelligence gathering. During this time, he was also the acting director of strategic planning in 2006, developing training protocols for mentoring and cognitive restructuring for adults and juveniles as well as establishing protocols for state-wide professionals for conducting workforce motivational trainings.

Following this time, Mr. Valentine became a senior parole officer for the New York State Division of Parole's reentry task force in 2007, coordinating the evidence-based workgroups for Westchester County while developing effective electronic tracking and identification protocols. In 2012, he became a board chairman for the Edmund and Susan Gordon Partnership at CEJJES, an institute that primarily works to promote social justice as it relates to health, education and environmental and material well-being within marginalized communities with a particular focus on children in these communities. He worked to establish partnerships that promoted discussion and education about African art, culture and history as part of their initiative to support programs that provide supplemental education.

Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Valentine was recognized for his stellar work by the Rockland County Sheriff's Office as chairman of the Police Reform Commission for Rockland County, and received a Martin Luther King Award for his service to his community. He also was honored with from the East Ramapo Central School District in 2020 and an NAACP Freedom Award from the Nyack NAACP in 2022.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Valentine earned a Bachelor of Arts from Queens College in 1976. Following this achievement, he attained an Executive Juris Doctor from the Concord Law School in 2009. He was also awarded with an Education Excellence Award from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Within the coming years, Mr. Valentine intends to continue motivating and inspiring others while enabling his community to guide him to their needs. He is also a candidate for the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, which would allow him to work with individuals coming out of the correctional system as assets, rather than liabilities.
