Ms. Ehrhardt was honored with an Outstanding Departmental Service in Leadership Role Award by the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
CLARKSBURG, MD, September 15, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kristel K. Ehrhardt has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in mentoring students, Ms. Ehrhardt has earned distinction as an associate professor of mathematics with Howard Community College. Since 2019, she has focused her efforts on teaching courses in statistics and discrete structures while guiding students to their future goals effectively. She is also the coordinator of advanced mathematics, coordinating discrete structures, linear algebra, and differential equations for the next three years. Additionally, she is a valued member of the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges, the Maryland Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges and the American Association for Women in Community Colleges.
Prior to her current role with Howard Community College, Ms. Ehrhardt began her career as an adjunct faculty member at Howard Community College in 2008. She also served as a part-time faculty member at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County until she moved to Spearfish, South Dakota in 2011 where she taught at Black Hills State University for three years. While at Hood College, she worked as an adjunct faculty member at Montgomery College and once she left Hood College, she was an adjunct faculty member at Trinity Washington University, Howard Community College, and Montgomery College.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Ehrhardt was honored with an Outstanding Departmental Service in Leadership Role Award by the University of Maryland Baltimore County and was nominated for a University Teaching Award by Black Hills State University. She also received a doctoral scholarship from the American Association for Women in Community Colleges. Added to these, she is proud to have helped four sets of students get their research papers published in the Journal of Research In Progress at Howard Community College.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Ehrhardt earned an associate's degree in business administration from Frederick Community College in 1997 and a Bachelor of Science in international business Summa Cum Laude from Strayer University in 2003. Following these achievements, she attained a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 2008 and a master's degree in the mathematics, secondary education and teaching in 2010, both from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She subsequently completed 18 graduate credit hours of mathematics from Bowie State University in 2017.
Within the coming years, Ms. Ehrhardt intends to gain her Doctor of Philosophy degree in industrial and computational mathematics while continuing to teach. She aims to ensure she not only makes discrete structures accessible to her students, but that she will also coordinate the materials as well. She also aims to rise to a role as a chair, an associate dean or as a leading faculty member, allowing her to better serve her students.
