A seasoned leader with a proven track record of success in manufacturing, designing, and implementing medical devices, from start up to scalable manufacturing, Mr. Jimenez presently serves as the research and development leader at Endologix, LLC, where he also works as a site leader. In his dual roles, he oversees a wide range of innovative programs, mobilizes the assets needed to complete them, and liaises with regulatory bodies regarding the critical deliverables needed to meet regulations. Previously, Mr. Jimenez excelled in the field with Confluent Medical Technologies, through which he served as a senior engineer, a research and development manager, and a senior engineering manager, where his major contributions were in the development of the multi-layer high pressure balloon catheter used on strong calcified occlusions for peripheral access interventions.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Jimenez gained valuable expertise in engineering and education as a professor at Universidad Latinoamericana de la Ciencia y la Tecnología, in Costa Rica, a senior manufacturing engineer for ArthroCare Corporation (Smith & Nephew), and other leadership positions in different important firms in the industry. An expert in his field, he holds a degree in science and materials engineering from the Technologic Institute of Costa Rica. Subsequently, Mr. Jimenez expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and a Program Management Professional certification.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Jimenez takes the most pride in contributing to the development of the Detour technology (PTAB: percutaneous transmural arterial bypass), an innovative procedure for the treatment of the complex SFA disease; it's the first procedure that effectively bypasses long (200 mm to 460 mm) femoropopliteal lesions with chronic total occlusions. The cornerstone of his success has been his multiple mentors, who have played a significant role in his career. Looking ahead, Mr. Jimenez intends to establish inclusive medical device partnerships so that he can spend more time conducting research of interest to him, particularly regarding peripheral, coronary and neuro artery disease which is the future of vascular access technology.
