LONG LAKE, MN, September 22, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shirley J. Billigmeier has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With more than four decades of excellence in health education, Ms. Billigmeier has earned distinction as the owner, author and consultant for Innergetics. Since 1994, she has focused her efforts on offering courses and coaching on a structured method to reach and maintain each individual's natural weight. Inspired by her own struggles in her earlier years with negative eating habits along with seeing the anxiety in her students, she sought to craft a program that helped to achieve an understanding of complexities of psychology, nutrition and physical exercise and how these elements relate to hunger and eating. Additionally, she has been the co-founder of The Rapunzel Project since 2010, helping patients with cancer keep their hair during chemotherapy.
Before establishing Innergetics, Ms. Billigmeier served as a teacher for St. Louis Park Schools from 1971 until 1977 and has been giving speaking engagements since 1994. She authored the book "Inner Eating: How to Free Yourself Forever from the Tyranny of Food" in 1991 with the forward written by Dr. Michael Jensen of the Mayo Clinic. She focused her work on the "gut-brain," since she believed that is where one's eating boundaries are housed. Her programs have been featured in various magazines throughout her professional journey. Among her accomplishments, she was named a Best Food Relationship Advisor in 2021 and 2022 by the LUXlife Food and Drink Awards. She also was listed as one of the Top 100 Innovators and Entrepreneurs by Top 100 Magazine in 2023.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Billigmeier earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and health from the University of Minnesota. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Arts in Health Education from the same institution in 1975. In recognition of her excellent work, she was honored with a CE+HD Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Minnesota in 2013.
Looking to the future, Ms. Billigmeier intends to further address the global challenges surrounding eating habits and weight management. As part of this goal, she plans to expand the number of coaches available with her company while promoting her approach to reach a wider audience.
