Backed by years of professional experience in education, Mr. Williams presently excels as an Academic Support Specialist/Advisor for Fayetteville State University, where he also works as an Adjunct Professor. In addition to working with continuing first year students and assisting them in getting acclimated to the collegiate experience, he collaborates with fellow advisors and teaches multiple sections of University Studies. Previously, Mr. Williams worked for the University as a Retention Specialist for Student Support Services in TRIO and a Tutor Coordinator for the Office of Access and Student Success Programs.
During the early stages of his career in secondary education, Mr. Williams gained valuable expertise as an exceptional children's teacher assistant in the Cumberland County Schools system, more specifically E. E. Smith High School, Lake Rim Elementary, & Walker Spivey School. Additionally, he served as an administrative assistant/front desk receptionist for Luther Nick Jeralds Middle School and Westover High School. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc., Pi Lambda Theta National Honor Society for educators, the Doctoral Association of Professional Students (DAPS), the Marching Bronco Xpress (MBX) Alumni Association, and Black Millennium Modeling Club. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Mr. Williams is a contributing author to such works as "The HBCU Experience: The HBCU Band Alumni Edition" along with The HBCU Experience Movement.
An expert in his field, Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Fayetteville State University and a Master of Science Degree in Leadership (MSL) from Grand Canyon University. Subsequently, he is currently expanding upon his knowledge by seeking to earn an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education from his undergraduate alma mater, Fayetteville State University. Mr. Williams holds certifications in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in the Workplace and Inclusive & Ethical Leadership both from the University of South Florida, a practitioner certificate through the Myers & Briggs Foundation, and a Certificate of Achievement from The Institute of Community Leadership.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions, Mr. Williams was honored in the 40 Under 40 Class of 2023 by The Fayetteville Observer, received the H.H. Holloway Award through Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and was recognized by the Pan African Network of ACPA 30 Under 40 Sawubona Class of 2023 for Mentorship. The cornerstone of his success lies in the growth he has experienced throughout his career. In the coming years, Dr. Williams aims to become a faculty member or a student affairs practitioner where he can continue to have a direct effect on students as a transformational and servant leader.
