She also offers various catering options in her private dining room. Best known for her southern-inspired dishes like biscuits and gravy, and traditional favorites like pancakes, eggs, French toast, and eggs, Ms. Kelly proudly serves several signature dishes like J's Breakfast Bowl, comprising rice with a choice of breakfast meat or a salmon croquette patty.
Ms. Kelly spent her former years in financial services with several leading banking organizations, including JPMorgan Chase & Company as a small business relationship manager and Citigroup as a business banking manager. She also garnered experience as a mortgage consultant at Anchor Mortgage. More recently, she served as an implementation specialist at Bank of America Corporation in Chicago from 2011 to 2013. Among other opportunities, Ms. Kelly was the owner and operator at Strategic Solutionz from 2007 to 2011 and a school operations manager at the Lighthouse Academy between 2014 and 2015.
Among her most significant professional achievements, Ms. Kelly was selected to be the commencement speaker for the 2023 Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program. Looking toward the future, she aims to conduct more speaking engagements that directly impact aspiring individuals pursuing greatness. As a business owner in the restaurant industry, Ms. Kelly plans to continue building her brand and begin offering franchising opportunities.
Active in various civic and nonprofit initiatives, Ms. Kelly has served as the founder of the Love for Jalyn Foundation Inc. in Merrillville, Indiana. The philanthropic foundation was established in 2015 to further the legacy of Jalyn D. Jones.
Highly educated, Ms. Kelly graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts in economics with a concentration in management and organization in 1996. She also received a Master of Business Administration in finance and financial management services from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University in 2004. Additionally, Ms. Kelly received several relative designations as a ServSafe manager and alcohol handler through the National Restaurant Association and as a 10K Small Business Graduate of Goldman Sachs.
Ms. Kelly was fortunate to receive a grant from the DoorDash Accelerator, a program designed to empower small and early-stage consumer packaged goods businesses. Since then, her restaurant has been recognized as a Minority Business of the Year by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Ms. Kelly attributes her success as a restauranter to her spirituality, faith, and taking advantage of several opportunities.
