International travel keeps her abreast of changing markets while affording buying opportunities around the globe.
NEW YORK, NY, September 29, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carole Davenport has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With more than four decades of excellence in Japanese and other Asian cultures, Carole Davenport has built the firm bearing her name, buying and selling Asian art, as well as acting as agent for buyers and sellers. Each artwork is researched as to authenticity, condition, and provenance, then catalogued and photographed. She has taken a scholarly approach rather than simply merchandising. Her home is her office where she receives clients on an individual basis, by appointment only. Twice yearly, she mounts public exhibitions at rental galleries or at the Park Avenue Armory, first at the International Asian Art Fair and now at The Salon Art+Design Show every November. Carole honed her insightful approach with an Art History degree from Queens College, summa cum laude, then as Manager for Daniel Brooks Gallery on Madison Avenue.
Among her accomplishments, she located an 8th century small ceramic sculpture from the Horyu-ji Temple in Nara, Japan. She successfully bought and sold the work. American museums have been frequent clients along with prominent collectors. Having forged relationships with prime Japanese dealers, a number of works from her inventory have entered the Nara National Museum in Japan.
Looking to the future, Carole plans to revitalize her business with a greater focus on the internet and website improvements as core goals. Bridging the gap between modern and ancient has already begun. International travel keeps her abreast of changing markets while affording buying opportunities around the globe. Classical music forms a backdrop for her work, while watching and following New York sports teams is a constant. An avid sports fan, she misses the days of playing field hockey at The Waldorf School and the Long Island Womens' Field Hockey Association.
