PASADENA, TX, October 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Glenn van Kooijk has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a solutions architect, Mr. Kooijk serves as a bridge between people and technology, working to find the link between a business problem and the technological solution. His long career has spanned across several continents and touched many major global corporations, including Chick-fil-A, one of the largest clients of Artisan Studios in Houston, for which Mr. Kooijk currently works.
Mr. Kooijk drew inspiration for his career from the influence of his parents, who worked for the United Nations assessing how indigenous communities lived and helping them make improvements without changing their culture. He attributes his analytical mind to lessons he drew upon while traveling with his parents, as well as experiences he used to study infrastructure projects for CARE International at the beginning of his career. Mr. Kooijk, who speaks six languages, pursued his education abroad, earning a bachelor's degree in marine biology from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa in 1992 and a graduate degree in information technology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1996.
Mr. Kooijk's most notable career achievement was a global enterprise management system he created while working at Planforce in the Netherlands from 2004 to 2006. In less than three weeks, his team mounted the management system for 20,000 people in Singapore and 200,000 people in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, the regional economic forum commonly known as APEC. A natural born leader, he set up training sessions at a stadium and split the group into sub-groups of 5,000. The immediate success of the project led to a career-making opportunity—building a global enterprise portfolio management system for 700,000 users at Citigroup, which became the largest project management office in the world.
Seeking to add charitable work to his portfolio, Mr. Kooijk accepted a role in 2022 at Southwest Key Programs, one of the largest Latino-led nonprofits in the United States. At the Austin-based social justice organization, he created a fully automated ticketing system that allowed for an electronic health record system and a local financial management system. In accounting for his success, Mr. Kooijk credits his sports background, which taught him to commit to winning but to also know how to lose gracefully. When confronting challenges, his approach is to never take things personally and turn lemons into lemonade.
After several decades in his industry, Mr. Kooijk still loves his work and would like to transition toward serving on the board of a large firm where he can serve everyone without an ownership stake.
