In her current capacity, she is responsible for enterprise resource planning, payroll, risk assessment, benefits, purchasing, food service, accounting and finance, fixed asset, and warehouse and oversight supporting human resources systems.
Ms. Protopapas initially began her career working as a programmer at Price Waterhouse from 1985 to 1986. Following this post, she was active as a senior associate programmer at IBM from 1986 until 1994. Between 1994 and 1997, Ms. Protopapas garnered expertise as a business consultant for Origin Technologies Group Inc., and a programmer analyst at Beneficial Systems Development.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Protopapas pursued an education at St. Petersburg College, where she obtained an Associate of Arts in Business in 1982. She continued her academic efforts at the University of South Florida, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems in 1985. At IBM she completed over 30 courses. As a commitment to her field, she attained various teaching certifications and a license in Agile Development. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Protopapas contributes to the League of Women Voters and Daughters of Penelope organizations.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Protopapas is most proud of her involvement in the development and maintenance of software application systems, especially during her tenure at Price Waterhouse and IBM. There she was involved in functional specifications, system design, code development, unit and integration test, installation procedures, creating documentation including IBM publications and presenting and supporting new and modified application systems to internal and client customers. At times, responsibilities included project planning, leadership and team coordination and collaboration. Reflecting on her achievements, she attributes much of her success to her diligence, resilience, discipline, intellect, and the support of her parents and community. Looking toward the future, Ms. Protopapas aspires to expand the scope of her career in software development at Pinellas County Schools and hopes to be more involved in civic advocacy.
