NAPERVILLE, IL, October 04, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lola Fadoju Ogunyemi has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on years of professional experience in the healthcare sector, Ms. Ogunyemi presently excels as a case manager for Aetna Inc. In this capacity, she assesses patients, primarily those over the age of 65, to identify their health-related needs and educate them regarding the options available to them based on their insurance. Alongside her work at Aetna, she serves as a telehealth nurse for cardiac and respiratory patients and a private duty home health nurse for ChristianaCare. Over the years, Ms. Ogunyemi also worked with Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Genesis HealthCare, and Southern Illinois University, where she served as an undergraduate researcher.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Ogunyemi gained valuable expertise in the field as an international health educator intern for Kwesimintsim Hospital; this experience piloted her into her nursing career and led to her competency today. As she explained, "I learned the skills to work and collaborate with different medical professionals on tough cases, and had the confidence to deliver 10 babies in a shift, and before the end of my next shift, I delivered a baby on my own. The ability to teach young minds left me with the feeling of hope for a brighter future." She also served in a similar role with Community Nursing Services in East St. Louis, Illinois. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nurses, the American Nurses Association, and the Delaware Nurses Association. In conjunction with her work, Ms. Ogunyemi volunteers her time in her community, donates money and clothes to nonprofit entities, and has volunteered as an international student nurse for Ridge Hospital.
An expert in her field, Ms. Ogunyemi holds an associate degree in pre-pharmacy and pre-nursing studies through Harry S. Truman College, where she received an award for her dedication to the student government, as well as a Bachelor of Science in health education and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Illinois University. Subsequently, she expanded upon her professional knowledge by earning a Master of Science in Nursing in public health from Grand Canyon University. Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Ms. Ogunyemi has written a number of works, including "Team Work and Service Learning in an Intercultural Community."
While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Ogunyemi takes the most pride in the response and feedback she received during the pandemic, specifically from Hispanic immigrants, who culturally, do not seek medical help unless their cases are urgent. The cornerstone of her success lay in her faith, culture, and upbringing. Looking ahead, Ms. Ogunyemi aims to continue her journey to self-discovery, pursue a legal nurse certification, and advocate for patients whose voices need to be amplified.
