Mr. Keating has been coaching swim teams for more than 50 years.

Leading a long and successful career in athletics, Mr. Keating has been coaching swim teams for more than 50 years. As the head coach and founding member of the PACK Swim Team, a family-oriented swimming program in Pittsford, New York, since 1976, he coaches swimmers ages eight to 18, averaging over 130 students each season. He also serves as the high school boys' and girls' swim teams coach at Pittsford Central School District. Initially serving in the capacity from 1973 to 2008, Mr. Keating resumed his position in 2011. Additionally, he has been affiliated with Marlins Swimming Inc., a private swimming organization in Spencerport, New York, that offers swimming education and training.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Keating has been instrumental in coaching over 100 All-Americans and leading his teams to 11 state championships and 18 Section V champions in a row. Moreover, several of Mr. Keating's student-athletes participated in the 2016 and 2021 Olympic trials.
Becoming one of his area's most respected swim coaches, Mr. Keating began coaching at the Arnett Young Men's Christian Association in 1968. He subsequently coached the boys' swim team at the Catholic Youth Organization in Rochester, New York, became a founding member and swim coach at Marlins Swimming Inc. (formerly Greece Recreation Swim Club), and a founding member and coach at Rochester Rapids Swim Team (formerly Rochester Recreation Swim Team). Additionally, Mr. Keating was a swim coach for Livonia Swim Team from 2008 to 2011.
Mr. Keating earned an associate degree from Monroe Community College. He also received a bachelor's degree in sociology, a Master of Arts in educational administration, and a Master of Science in teaching from the State University of New York. Moreover, Mr. Keating earned Level 4 Rated coach certification through the American Swim Coaches Association.
To remain abreast in his industry, Mr. Keating is a member of the American Swim Coaches Association, the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association, the New York State Swim Coaches Association, the National Club Swimming Association, and the Rural Swim Coaches Association.
Honored for his accomplishments as a coach, Mr. Keating was recognized as a two-time Niagara District Coach of the Year in 1987 and 1999. He was also recognized as Coach of the Year numerous times by the Rochester Press-Radio Club, the National High School Athletic Association, and the National Federation of State High School Associations between 2003 and 2015. Furthermore, Mr. Keating was inducted into the Frontier Field Walk of Fame in 2003, was the first high school coach to ever receive the coveted Jack Palvino Award in 2004 for outstanding support and contributions to local women's sports at the WHAM Sportswomen of the Year Awards Luncheon, and was honored to receive a 25-Year Service Award from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association in 2010. Aside from his many accolades, Mr. Keating was featured in a 2020 article in the Democrat and Chronicle.
