Ms. Greenwald received her introduction to construction and energy law representing public power entities that were joint owners of nuclear power plants. At the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, she worked with the Energy and Infrastructure Projects Group. In 1984, she co-founded a design-build company, Greenwald Cassell Associates, Inc., and served as its General Counsel and CFO until 2015. During this time, she has also excelled as a mediator and an arbitrator of her private practice at Discovery Dispute Solutions and Construction Dispute Solutions since 2011. In her career-related endeavors, Ms. Greenwald frequently serves as a speaker, teacher and writer for various panels, conferences and publications, having written numerous articles on dispute systems design, negotiation, arbitration, complex construction contracts, and construction technology.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Greenwald pursued an education at Brown University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in aquatic biology in 1978. She continued her academic efforts at Harvard Law School, earning a Juris Doctor in 1981. As a commitment to her field, Ms. Greenwald has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Virginia State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the American College of Construction Lawyers, the Connecticut Mediation Association. the American Bar Association and more.
Ms. Greenwald's professional accomplishments include speaking and publishing, including articles on arbitration and mediation, and a series of four articles on construction technology through the National Association of Surety Bond Producers. She also takes pride in her ability to inspire and empower individuals to collaborate within her field. Reflecting on her long career, she attributes much of her success to her holistic thinking, persistence, intelligence, determination, and passion for her specialty, as well as to the guidance and support of her mother and industry mentors.
