With over four decades of excellence as an architect at home and abroad, Mr. Matschek recently joined AM Technical Solutions as a Senior Architect in their Advanced Technology sector. Charles continues representing MYP Maquetas in Jalisco, Mexico as their North American Consultant, a relationship established over twenty years ago. Throughout his career, Mr. Matschek has maintained professional relationships with architects, developers, contractors, product representatives and other industry experts, ensuring he remains current with the design and construction industry. Among his professional accomplishments, he was acknowledged by the American Concrete Institute for his exceptional concrete work completed at the Evergreen Aviation Museum located in McMinnville, Oregon.
Prior to starting his professional career, Mr. Matschek served honorably as a petty officer in the United States Coast Guard Reserve for 10 years, and received an honorable discharge. Following recruit training, he was selected to attend small boat and navigational training in Yorktown, Virginia, training to qualify for handling small boats in all maritime conditions. Mr. Matschek transferred to Portland's Marine Safety Office from which he carried out routine and emergency patrols. This was followed by a deployment to the central Oregon Coast, and becoming proficient in operating surf motor lifeboats carrying out regular safety and search & rescue missions. Based on his training and experience, Mr. Matschek was selected to attend advanced small boat coxswains' and search & rescue training in San Francisco, where he qualified as a United States Coast Guard Coxswain, and international boarding officer, whereby being available for deployment to duty stations worldwide.
Before starting his position at AM Technical Solutions, Mr. Matschek was an architect in Portland and San Diego, before traveling overseas and working in Singapore and in New Zealand from 1982 until returning to Portland in 1996. He was an Associate Architect with Ankrom Moisan Architects from 1996 to 2010. In 2011 he joined MEC Engineering as an architect, then a construction project coordinator for AM Technical Solutions Inc until 2015. He continued his career in 2015 as a senior project manager for DAY CPM, an Otak Division, and moved to Intel Corporation in 2019 where he was a facilities architect for their Oregon and Arizona campuses.
To prepare for his professional career, Mr. Matschek earned a Bachelor's degree in architecture, with a minor in film criticism, from the University of Oregon. Well-qualified in his field, he is a registered architect with the California Architects Board, holds certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is a LEED Green Associate.
Likewise dedicated to civil advocacy, Mr. Matschek is on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Timberline and a member of the Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway. One of his hobbies and a personal passion, is participating in amateur sports car racing and volunteering as a high-performance driving instructor for the Cascade Sports Car Club at local race tracks.
Mr. Matschek is affiliated with a company catering to a global clientele. While leveraging all his architectural proficiencies, his role is evolving to include owner's representative, design and project management.
