She handles three levels of editing and proofreading from grammar and spell checks to the flow of speech, making the original text more readable to communicate the message effectively. Additionally, she has been a contracts associate with Hilton Head Guest Services' Island Visitor Center since 2022.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Hattersley began her career as an educator and English as a second language teacher for the Chin Min Institute of Technology in 2002. During her tenure, she was also an editor and proofreader for Qbooks International from 2008 to 2022. Following this time, she was a social media and editorial consultant for the LEIAS Educational Services Foundation from 2012 to 2018.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Hattersley has been a valued editor for Focus on Fabulous Magazine and was featured in magazine articles in local publications. She has also contributed a great deal of her own works, including six psychology and memoir books. She also authored "Mastering the Perfect Speech: Skills of Essay and Presentation through Writing and Reading" for the Journal of Chin Min Institute of Technology in 2003, "Culture-The Missing Link in Conversational Discourse Analysis" in Issues in English Language Teaching: Pedagogy and Learning in 2005 and "Application of Computers and Integrated EFL Instruction For The Proceedings of the Fourth Conference on Interactive English Teaching at Chin Min Institute of Technology" published by the Crane Publishing Company, Ltd. in 2004.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Hattersley earned an English equivalency degree from the University of South Carolina-Beaufort and a Bachelor of Applied Science in environmental design and architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 1988. She then attained a Master of Science in ethnography from Abilene Christian University in 2000. Well-qualified in her field, she is certified in teaching English as a second or foreign language.
