Since 2016, he has focused his efforts on performing surgeries as well as running his clinic. He is the sole podiatrist at the Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama and the only hospital-based podiatrist in the county.
Also a skilled locksmith, Dr. Doherty began his career as a locksmith with Super Lock Service in 1976. He is presently the president and chief executive officer of BABA Lock USA, earning an interview by a premiere locksmith magazine, The Locksmith Ledger International. Added to this, he has served as the president and chief executive officer of Doherty Distribution, LLC since 2019, serving as the exclusive distributor for all of North and Central America for South Korean smart locks and closed-circuit security televisions.
After leaving his initial locksmith position, Dr. Doherty served honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 1982 until 1986. Following his military service, he became a staff podiatric surgical physician for the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2004 and then for the Tillamook Regional Medical Center in 2009. He subsequently joined Samaritan Health Services in 2015 in a similar capacity.
To prepare for his medical career, Dr. Doherty earned a Bachelor of Arts in human biology and chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa in 1996. Following this achievement, he attained a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in foot and ankle surgery from the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001. He subsequently completed his internship and residency with the VA Maryland Healthcare System. Within the coming years, Dr. Doherty intends to continue growing his locksmith enterprise.
