A seasoned entrepreneur, Mr. Rush attended Oregon State University in 1990, but dropped out after two years due to textbook-based teaching, which didn't align with his faster-paced learning desires. He proceeded to self-educate on the latest software development platforms and, in 1997, started a website development business called Rush Web Solutions. After 15 years running a successful small business with multiple product offerings, he decided to enter the investor funded start-up world with an idea he had been mulling over.
In 2012, Mr. Rush spun out a new company called Sightbox, designed to be an all-inclusive vision care solution. Sightbox raised its first outside funding in 2014 and was eventually sold to Johnson & Johnson in 2017. Rush continued his role leading the growth of Sightbox under J&J's Vision Care business inside their Medical Devices division through the beginning of 2020.
Besides his corporate contributions, Mr. Rush is an accomplished songwriter, musician and producer. He has released multiple country music singles and albums, which can be found on most streaming services.
A champion of entrepreneurialism in his community, Mr. Rush has lent his expertise and investment to support several organizations. He is a former board member of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, having served in his role from 2019 to 2021.
