Mr. Kapoor received the Engineering Excellence Award from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and the Governor's Sterling Award for Quality from Miami-Dade Transit.

In addition to his primary vocation, he has also been active as the vice president of advanced bus technology programs at OMNI Strategy LLC. Prior to this role, Mr. Kapoor was involved with HDR Inc. as the national and global markets transit vehicle practice leader from 2019 to 2020.
Mr. Kapoor initially began his vocation working as a design engineer for research and development at Escorts Kubota Limited from 1978 until 1981, followed by an applications engineer role for the Eutectic Division at Larsen and Toubro Limited from 1981 to 1984. Between 1985 and 1999, he garnered expertise via various engineering and maintenance positions in Miami-Dade County, and as an assistant manager of bus engineering at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), thereafter. Subsequently, he continued his career serving as a director and a general manager for the Miami-Dade County bus, rail, paratransit and mover systems. Mr. Kapoor also contributed to Jacobs as the director of vehicle, transit and rail engineering, as well as the director of global industrial, buildings and infrastructure groups.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Kapoor pursued an education at the National Institute of Technology in Kurukshetra, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering with honors in 1978. As a commitment to his field, he has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Kapoor contributes to the American Cancer Society, the Wounded Warrior Project and the Humane Society International.
Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Mr. Kapoor has received multiple awards, including the Engineering Excellence Award from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and the Governor's Sterling Award for Quality from Miami-Dade Transit. Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of his work with the Miami-Dade Transit, where he was tasked with improving operations, as well as bus and train schedules, and ensuring that all systems were accessible to everyone, including those with physical disabilities. Additionally, Mr. Kapoor is gratified to have served as a reliability engineer and manager for the WMATA, where he oversaw improvements to the bus fleet, and implemented several engineering modifications to enhance transit route and fleet performance.
Reflecting on a long career, Mr. Kapoor attributes much of his success to the support of his wife, the guidance of his mother, and the mentorship of his father, who served as chief engineer and helped him excel in his specialty and as a person. Looking toward the future, he wishes to see major improvements in zero emissions technology, and hopes that battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell technology will work in tandem to complement one another.
