Backed by years of professional experience in water and real estate law, Mr. Ewell presently excels as an attorney with The Ewell Group, and a Chairman of The Ewell Group of Companies. Similarly, he held an executive role with Millerton Open Space and Natural Resource Plan. He established a preserve named for his parents, Austin and Mary Ewell on Fine Goold Creek in Madera County, CA in coordination with Sierra Foothill Conservancy, PG&E, and Trust for Public Land. In addition to overseeing daily operations for his numerous businesses, he is involved in water supply and master-planned projects in the Central Valley of California. During the early stages of his career, Mr. Ewell gained valuable expertise in matters with the establishment of Millerton New Town Development Company, and Lake Millerton Marinas.
Mr. Ewell earned a Bachelor of Arts from Miami University in 1963. Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge by earning a JD from the University of California, San Francisco Law. Upon graduation, he was admitted to practice by the State Bar of California, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Driven to stay abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Ewell maintains affiliation with the Fresno County Bar Association, the Millerton Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Fresno Council of Governments, and the Fresno County Farm Bureau.
Outside of his work, Mr. Ewell has contributed to his community as president of the Board of Directors for the Fresno Police Activities League (PAL). Likewise, he has served in similar roles as Co Chairman of the National Advisory Council of the U.S. Small Business Administration, with the Blueprint Regional Advisory Committee, the Blueprint Roundtable, the First Congregational Church, the Fresno Sports Council, and the Fresno Convention and Visitors Bureau. Previously, he has dedicated himself to the arts, education, and more through a variety of local organizations.
Mr. Ewell authored "Sunday Afternoons and Other Times Remembered: A Memoir." While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in his involvement in the establishment of the Brighton Crest master-planned community named after a little farm town in Ohio where he was born. Though hard work has brought him far in his career, he credits his overall success to his unrelenting perseverance in tough times. Mr. Ewell is working on the writing of a second book, continuing to supervise the implementation of various business plans and foster growth of numerous ranches he has bought in recent years.
