She is currently developing online and in-person programs that teach the essentials of emotion regulation in trauma recovery to the general public, bringing the knowledge and wisdom gained over nearly 40 years of experience to recovering community members, fellow clinicians, coaches, and other helpers and healers.

Apart from treating patients through her private practice, Ms. Huning is a clinical supervisor to young therapists. She has also found success as a contracted licensed psychologist at several Minnesota outpatient therapy practices since 2007. Ms. Huning has been active in mental health since the mid-1980s, having worked as a licensed psychologist, clinical supervisor, program coordinator of an ecopsychology graduate program, director of health and wellness services, and other related roles.
Having been active in her community, Ms. Huning volunteers for several animal advocacy organizations and animal sanctuaries and is very involved in the animal rescue community in her area. She has also served on the board of the Anna Lake Animal Sanctuary.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Huning received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Earlham College in 1981 and a Master of Arts in psychodynamics and psychotherapy from Antioch University in 1985. She also received several credentials in her field, including licensure as a psychologist in Minnesota and DBT-Linehan Board Certification as a Dialectical Behavior Therapist. She was formerly licensed as an independent substance abuse counselor in Arizona.
Ms. Huning is active in her professional field as a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association. Her achievements garnered recognition with an E.B. White Prize for Excellence in Psychology from Earlham College in 1981. Ms. Huning believes her success has been due to her purpose-driven work and desire to help each client become more productive members of society.
