Dr. Mahmoud is a computer science expert and educator celebrating more than 20 years of dedication to developing the next generation of professionals in her field. She began her professional journey as a student at Helwan University Cairo, earning a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2000 and a Master of Science in 2003. In 2011, the university awarded her a Doctor of Philosophy in computer science specialized in Artificial Intelligence. In addition to her formal education, Dr. Mahmoud has pursued professional development coursework in teaching techniques and curriculum design and holds numerous professional credentials.
Dr. Mahmoud launched her teaching career in 2001, serving as a student researcher and lecturer while completing her graduate-level studies. In 2005, she became a lecturer at the Modern University for Management Science and IT, departing two years later to accept a lecturer post at George Mason University. Between 2009 and 2012, Dr. Mahmoud was a senior lecturer in the Western College for Management & Technology at the University of Bolton, and in 2012 she was named an assistant professor at Zayed University in Dubai, where she would remain for the next six years. Dr. Mahmoud served as a software development instructor at CDI College, Inc. between 2019 and 2021, teaching courses in web and mobile app development.
Since 2022, Dr. Mahmoud has excelled in her current role as a Computer Science instructor for the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, where she oversees a course load including computer science and programming, networking and software security. Dr. Mahmoud considers her curriculum to be among her greatest accomplishments, with special emphasis on her long-term efforts to improve the different classes she teaches. She credits her professional success to hard work, a lifelong commitment to self-improvement and study, and to her ability to remain on the leading edge of industry trends and changes. In the coming years, she hopes to be able to dedicate more of her time to teaching and research in topics related to AI and emerging machine learning technologies.
Dr. Mahmoud is a member of Women in Tech and a volunteer for Girl Guides and the Canada Code Club, among other community organizations. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the outdoors by hiking local trails.
