A dedicated education professional with more than four decades of excellence in teaching and counseling, Mr. Gallo has earned distinction as the headmaster for Seton Hall Preparatory School under president Monsignor Kelly. Having been the assistant headmaster since 1983, since 2019 he has focused his efforts on being a strong and positive influence for his students, especially fostering connections with children who are going through challenges. His own father passed away when he was in eighth grade, giving him a unique empathy for children who are suffering with a loss.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Gallo earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from James Madison University. He then attained a master's degree in counseling with a focus on marriage and family counseling. Eminently qualified in his field, he is also a licensed professional counselor. He is also a valued member of the Jersey School Counseling Association and the National Catholic School Association.
Originally intending to become a school counselor, Mr. Gallo was encouraged to pursue teaching by Father Ed Leahy, the head of St. Benedict's Preparatory School. Under the mentorship of Monsignor Kelly, Mr. Gallo quickly rose from a physical education teacher and wrestling coach to the dean of students, the youngest ever in charge of discipline for Seton Hall Preparatory School.
Within the coming years, Mr. Gallo intends to continue to provide diverse opportunities for his students, whether in academics or in the community. As the first layperson to be named the headmaster of the Seton Hall Preparatory School since it was founded in 1856, his ultimate goal is to leave the institution better than how he found it when he eventually retires, leaving a legacy of service for the students to follow.
