DANVILLE, PA, October 30, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helen "Sis" Hause has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Hause is a talented local historian and writer affiliated with Danville News in Danville, Pennsylvania, since 2001. Passionate about her career, she enjoys playing an integral role in her community through her weekly column, Moments in Time. Recognized as a weekly newspaper, the Danville News notably covers Montour County.
Among her many achievements in journalism, Ms. Hause was responsible for publishing a monthly newspaper during Danville's bicentennial year in 1992, celebrating the town's 200-year history. As a historian, she first became intrigued by the subject while attending the Slovak Girls Academy (now Saint Cyril Academy) and having an excellent history teacher who inspired her to take an interest. Now considered the "go-to" historian for the Danville area, Ms. Hause spends much of her free time studying the town's roots.
Describing Danville as her home, Ms. Hause never intends to leave despite her ongoing travel expeditions in her free time. As leaders in the community, The Helen "Sis" Graham Hause and William A. Hause Fund was launched in early 2022. Created by the Hause children, it was designed to honor Ms. Hause, her late husband, and the community by offering grants for charitable purposes throughout Montour County.
Locally, Ms. Hause recently retired from the Thomas Beaver Free Library board after over 20 years of service. She also spent over a decade on the Danville Area School Board. She remains active today on the board of the Montour County Historical Society and the Architectural Review Board. Ms. Hause has also been involved with various other organizations and initiatives, including the Iron Heritage Festival as a founding member, having served on the committee from 1999 to 2013 and on the parade and holiday happenings committee for several years. Ms. Hause was also inducted as an honorary member of the Danville Area Alumni Association.
Ms. Hause graduated from the Slovak Girls Academy in 1954. In light of her success, she received the Robert N. Pursel Distinguished Service Award at the Danville Area Red Cross Holiday Happening in 2010. She was also recognized as the First Lady of the Year by Beta Phi Sigma International, with an Excellence in Community Service Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution and a Military Order of the Purple Heart for Distinguished Service, was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Education from the Saint Cyril Academy and, among other accolades, received an Outstanding Dedication to the Danville Community and the Danville Area School District by the Danville Area Alumni Association.
