With more than two decades of excellence in mathematics education and educational leadership, Dr. Ordóñez-Feliciano has risen to the role of Director of Administration and Compliance for the School District of Palm Beach County. Since 2022, she has focused her efforts on developing and implementing strategic plan initiatives for the district and assisting with the supervision of four regional offices and one hundred and eighty-two schools. She collaborates with District departments and the Bureau of School Improvement to ensure the schools and teachers receive the support they need to meet or exceed state standards, offering leadership development opportunities for principals.
Additionally, Dr. Ordóñez-Feliciano has been an adjunct faculty member with Florida Atlantic University since 2017, teaching courses for the Master of Education in the Educational Leadership program. She is also an executive board member for the Florida Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents and lends her expertise to the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendent Linking Latina Leaders Network at the national level.
Prior to her current position with the School District of Palm Beach County, Dr. Ordóñez-Feliciano served as a mathematics teacher for Suncoast High School in 1994 and then for John F. Kennedy Middle School in 1995. She subsequently functioned as the math department chairperson and teacher for Royal Palm Beach High School in 1998. Following this time, she was a data specialist for the School District of Palm Beach County in 2007 for a year until becoming the assistant principal for Okeeheelee Middle School in 2008 and serving as the school principal for West Gate Elementary School in 2012 for 10 years. She also authored "Self-Efficacy and Instruction in Mathematics" in 2009 and "How to Create a Data-Driven School Culture" in 2017.
Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Ordóñez-Feliciano was nominated for the Palm Beach County Council of Teachers of Mathematics Award and received a national honor roll recognition from Outstanding American Teachers, both in 2007. In 2019, she was presented the Educational Leadership Award from the Hispanic Education Coalition of Palm Beach County. She is also a valued member of the American Association of School Administrators, the Florida Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, and the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents.
To prepare for her professional journey, Dr. Ordóñez-Feliciano earned an Associate of Arts in Mathematics from Miami Dade College in 1991 and a Bachelor of Arts in the same area of study from Florida Atlantic University in 1993. Following these achievements, she attained a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration in 2004 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Global Leadership in 2009, both from Lynn University. She also completed a program for School Turnaround Leaders at Harvard University in 2023. Eminently qualified in her field, she holds certifications as a school principal, in educational leadership and in mathematics for grades six through twelve from the Florida Department of Education. Added to these, she graduated from the Superintendents Leadership Academy with the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents. In recognition of her academic excellence, she was honored with an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from Florida Atlantic University.
Within the coming years, Dr. Ordóñez-Feliciano intends to work more closely with the district and leverage resources to most effectively benefit their students. Having come to the United States from Nicaragua when she was 17 years old, she was able to rise above the expectations of many, pursing higher education in mathematics and leadership instead of acquiescing to work in manual labor as she was advised. She has spent her career dedicated to helping her students achieve similar heights, including mentoring students to become her colleagues.
