Beginning his broadcasting career in 1995, he worked for such networks as WBOC-TV, WPEC-TV, and WFLX-TV, with his reporting featured both nationally and internationally, serving in such positions as a main anchor and investigative reporter. He subsequently worked as the co-creator, executive producer, and television host of "Rise & Live with Roby and Suze".
Transitioning into the nonprofit sector, Mr. Roby was the vice president of corporate partnerships and marketing for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, Florida, from 2019 to 2021. In this role, he was responsible for internal and external communications and creating a successful corporate partnership program for the organization. His innovative strategies, particularly during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, led to a significant increase in media coverage and community awareness, as well as record-breaking fundraising successes, including a virtual event that raised $1.8 million.
Building upon these achievements, Mr. Roby has been employed by the American Red Cross, where he continues to make a significant impact. His first task was reviving the historic International Red Cross Ball, the traditional highlight of the Palm Beach social and philanthropic season. Since being named executive director, Mr. Roby has increased fundraising for the five counties that his chapter serves, which includes over three million individuals. The elected official liaison for the organization, Mr. Roby engages over 400 elected officials in his area to keep them abreast of the Red Cross mission locally and deploys nationally during natural disasters. In addition, he continues to build capacity by negotiating memorandum of understandings with external stakeholders to solidify community partnerships while also managing the Board of Directors.
Mr. Roby is the first in his family to attend college with an educational background that includes a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Political Science and Literature from American University. As a testament to his success, he has earned several accolades, including various national awards for creating effective marketing campaigns and for his broadcasting career, including several Emmy Awards and the Friend in Need National Award from the National Association of Broadcasters. Moreover, he was recognized among Palm Beach County's Top 100 Business Influencers. Mr. Roby attributes his success to his drive, ambition and authenticity, always fully committing to his projects with passion.
Alongside his career, Mr. Roby's personal life is rich and fulfilling. He is married to his husband Juan David, director of sales and trade marketing at Duracell covering the Caribbean, Central America and South America. They have two children, Vejas and Kovas, both of whom attend the renowned A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts and play the cello for multiple orchestras. A former marathon runner and triathlete, Mr. Roby enjoys spending time traveling with his family when not at the beach. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue his positive impact on his community potentially as a chief executive officer for a regional nonprofit organization.
